[FRANCAIS ci-dessous] Most of the stories available on allafrica.com come from more than 100 media organisations : newspapers, news agencies and publications all over the African continent (a list of the content provider with direct links to their respective website is available in the section "content provider"). Thank to this wide variety of source, Allafrica.com reflects the diversity of reporting, analysis and commentary from as many as possible of the influential media in every country. They include government and opposition-controlled papers, as well as the growing number of independent, professional news publications across the continent, providing access to a full range of what Africans themselves are saying, thinking and publishing, an unique compilation of information. In addition to providing access to Africa’s media coverage, AllAfrica also publishes original reporting by our editorial team of award-winning journalists. Those stories are labelled "allAfrica.com". All other stories are labelled with the name of the originating source. On a typical day, more than 1000 articles are posted on allAfrica.com in English and French. The home page offers first "Headlines", "Top News", "Latest News". The home page proposes also access to news by country, or specific focus: Sustainable Africa, Peace Africa, BizTech, Business News, Sports News, Regional News If you want to read stories about a particular area of interest there is a menu of "Topics" half way down the left column of every page. This includes a wide range of subjects and types of story; you can opt to view stories about arts and entertainment, editorial comment from newspapers, education, health, religion, media, etc. These are listed by date, with the first paragraph of each story displayed. There is also a search engine. At the top of every page, slightly to the left, you can see a field in which you can write the keywords you wish to use. Then click on search and a list of search results will appear on a fresh page. They are ordered by date, with newest stories listed first. The searchable database extends back five years and includes our entire archive of more than 850,000 articles. A more advanced access to the archives is limited to the subscribers (US$ 95,00 yearly).
